Who Is Eva-Maria?

About me

Eva-Maria was born in 1990 in Akademgorodok; a well known scientific and educational centre, in the Siberian city of Novosibirsk, Russia. From a young age she was always loud and energetic wherever she went, always the centre of attention…that all changed when she moved to New Zealand at age 6 and was forced to see ‘the other side’…

Eva-Maria lives life true to her name, which was given to her as a symbolic link between opposites. Eva – a name from the West and Maria – from the East.

A book straight from the heart of a 17 year old teenager. Great insight as to how teenagers like to be treated and the issues that they face “growing up”. It’s never been an easy time for teenagers when emotions run wild, peer pressure and pressure on themselves are always in the back of their minds.

Parenting is a hard job, but it gets easier with listening especially when the efforts of your attention are able to tell you what works and what doesn’t. Eva’s book is not an easy read, there are some things that are not comfortable – and that is the way it should be.

'You Shut Up!' is not a comfortable read. It challenges parents to reassess the way they relate to their teenagers and come up with an approach that is guided by a mixture of love and pragmatism, communication and non-interference, with less judgement and more trust.

The audience members, who of course are much older than Gen "SMART", felt it was a most though provoking presentation. Eva-Maria kept them engaged from start to finish, giving the members valuable insights throughout, which meant they had many great take away key points and lessons to takeaway.

Eva-Maria gave a motivational presentation to our youth students yesterday. The students enjoyed meeting with Eva-Maria, who presented as a very friendly, confident, and polite young woman.

The quality of this year's workshops at the ACE Conference was exceptional and we have had very positive feedback from those who attended. Conference participants have said that the workshops were both stimulating and practical as well as high relevant to their work. Thank you, Eva-Maria.

By taking that Eva invoked side-step into my teenage state of mind I did feel a lift in spirit from freedom, optimism and energy recalled. Thinking on from her presentation,if teenagers do particularly feel constrained by lack of influence and power, imagine what could be achieved if we with the power teamed up.
